Grindhouse

I just watched Grindhouse and it’s two of the most enjoyable movies I’ve ever watched. Grindhouse consists of two movies namely Robert Rodriguez’s Planet Terror and Quentin Tarantino’s Deathproof. That’s all hoho. Watch the trailer.

Wait, I only enjoyed the end part of Deathproof, the car chase. It's actually boring.

Search for the elusive Crispa store

We had to find Crispa’s main store to get information about their company for our advanced marketing subject project which is revitalizing a former famous brand because there is no available information to be found on the internet.
Right after our class, me and my groupmates commuted via MRT to Shaw Boulevard because according to my groupmate, Crispa’s store is found in Pasig City (no specific address). Upon arriving Shaw Boulevard MRT station we called the number which was given to my groupmate. We had to call several numbers because they keep telling us wrong numbers or the numbers of former stores which have closed down. Finally, we have called the right number and we got the specific address of Crispa’s store. Crispa’s store “The White-T Company” is located at Eagle St., Barangay Ugong, Pasig City. Even though we had their address, we don’t know how to get there, but we are driven to find this store, so we continued on our journey. Hoho. We got down MRT Shaw Blvd. Station, passed by EDSA Central Mall, and rode a jeep that takes us to Barangay Ugong, Pasig City. Upon arriving Barangay Ugong, we just had to ask people where Eagle St. and Crispa's store is. Finally, we were able to see the elusive Crispa store on Eagle St. which is just near SM Supercenter Pasig and Tiendesitas.

Now let’s talk about the product; Crispa, the famous shirt brand known for quality; was created in 1948 by the late sportsman Valeriano “Danny” Floro. Story has it that "Crispa" was derived from the first syllables of the names of the late Doña Crisanta and the late Don Pablo Floro, parents of the late Valeriano "Danny" Floro. When the owner Valeriano “Danny” Floro died; Crispa temporarily stopped operating. Crispa was inherited by Valeriano “Danny” Floro’s eldest daughter Theresa Floro-Balaguer. With her husband Virgilio Balaguer, they re-introduced the Crispa shirt brand through their company Star Textiles Inc. in January 2004. And if you’re wondering what does “redmanizing” means because it is always printed on Crispa’s packaging “redmanized” and Crispa Basketball team is called “redmanizers”; Redmanizing is the process of softening fabrics. (I’m not sure of the meaning though. Hoho)

BayanDSL

It’s been a week since we have had a BayanDSL bundled with our existing bayantel phone. For the first few days I am very delighted with its speed which is 768kbps (its package is actually only upto 384kbps but they upgraded it to 768kbps). In addition, I like the Speed-on-Demand feature available from 10PM-10AM which boosts speed up to 1200+kbps. However since last night I am experiencing intermittent connections and unstable speed. Sometimes I get 700+kbps, most of the time only 300+kbps. I tried using OpenDNS it didn’t do anything. Awhile ago, I downloaded TCP Optimizer which gives surprising results. So, download TCP Optimizer now for your BayanDSL. hoho

OJT

Today is the last day of my on the job training at the finance department of ABSCBN. For two months, I have been sorting and filing papers. Though filing is not difficult to do because it doesn’t need mind power, doing the task repetitively, sitting the whole day is just tiring. Whenever I feel tired and sleepy while filing, I have a coffee break; which makes me like the NCO call center agents whose life force runs on coffee and cigarettes. So when they get sick, the dextrose that is injected to them has instant coffee in it. Even though most of my life as an OJT at the finance department of ABSCBN is spent on filing accounts payable papers, I also do photocopying (Xeroxing) and shredding; which are the favorite things I like to do (I dunno why.). All in all, my stay at ABSCBN is an experience I can benefit from. Even though, it dug a big hole in my pocket, because they don’t give allowances.

Cashback

Cashback is about a guy named Ben whose imagination runs wild while working nightshift at a local supermarket. The comedy elements coupled with the creation of a unique atmosphere make this film what it is. However, the imagination and the simple fact that so many ideas are crammed into the fifteen or so minutes of this short make this film incredible.

You can see this short film in http://video.google.com

Suicider

“Suicider! Suicider! And they say it’s over…”

Suicide is the act of intentionally terminating one's own life. Suicide occurs for a number of reasons such as depression, substance abuse, shame, avoiding pain, financial difficulties or other undesirable situations. Suicide rates are high in countries such as Russia, USA, China, and Japan; for some reason I don’t know. Here in the Philippines, suicide cases I always hear on the news are killing oneself because of poverty; Marianeth Amper, the 12-year old who hanged herself because she was not able to go to school for a month because she has no money to pay for transportation.

Some famous suicides are Ryūnosuke Akutagawa (1927), Japanese writer (author of Rashomon), barbital overdose. Chris Benoit (2007), professional wrestler, murdered his wife and 7-year-old son and later hanged himself in his weight room. And Hunter S. Thompson (2005), American author, gunshot.

So you might be thinking why I made this post? I just wanted to show you the picture of the man who jumped from the fourth floor of the Trinoma Mall last November 3, 2007.

yeah! crazy man

Explainer

The Explainer is show on ANC wherein the host Mr. Manolo Quezon III explains things on various topics. I was able to attend a shoot of the Explainer awhile ago because we were asked by our supervisor to attend the said shoot. So, we arrived in the studio where they shoot the Explainer; little did I know the Explainer needs audience participation. During the show, we are forced to ask questions regarding the topic being discussed; which is about cardinals. I asked “If we have more cardinals (Filipino cardinals), what advantages do we get from it?” The guest on the show replied “Basically, two heads are better than one.” I did have a weak impromptu question, but the answer to my question is just lame. (or I'm just stupid)

Road Noisemakers

What’s up with these people and their noisy scooters? Scooters / Beginner’s Motorcycles are naturally not that noisy, but these people modify the scooter’s exhaust systems to increase the sound it makes to an offensive level. These people should be sensitive to community standards and respect other people’s rights to a peaceful environment. hoho, as if they will. Hoho. and as if I really care about other people's rights to a peceful environment, I just hate those scooters and their drivers.

This modification of scooters has become a fad (I just wish it won’t turn into a trend), I hope motorcycle retailers discourage the installation and use of excessively loud replacement exhaust systems; so we can all enjoy a peaceful environment.

For all the motorcyclists, why not just do locomotion. hoho

Milk

Just like Jean Reno in Leon the Professional, I regularly drink milk. It has been a long time since I started regularly drinking milk. So, I may say I’m a Milk Professional hoho. During my lifetime, I have tried various powdered milk brands. When I was young, I drank Nido and Bear Brand, which are the staple milk brands before. Recently, I have tried Anlene High Calcium Milk for 19 years old and above. I have to say Anlene powdered milk is one of the best milk brands around. It is high in calcium, it has a vanilla taste in it, and the texture of the milk is not too creamy. Months after discovering Anlene, I have been a drinking a glass of Anlene milk everyday. However, this afternoon, I come across a milk brand known as U-Care milk; so I tried it. I was amazed that it tasted just like Anlene, and also has high calcium (though not as high as Anlene's). But for the price of 40 pesos per box carton compared to Anlene which is 100 pesos, I rather choose U-Care than Anlene since there really is no apparent reason I regularly drank milk, it just became a habit.
